One aspect tends to be neglected in the scientific discussion: the influence of the personal environment or the household context. The present study is dedicated to this and focuses in particular on the influence of partnership-based power relations. Using a secondary analysis of qualitative data that arose in the course of an investigation into the coordination of the retirement decisions of heterosexual double-income couples, the power structures are examined more closely.
