It offers insights into strategies related to the distribution, mechanism of action, and assessment of antiallergic medicinal plants, and also delves into crucial aspects of modern biotechnological tools, addressing their implementation challenges, presenting innovative approaches through case studies, and exploring opportunities for nanotechnologies. These elaborated discussions aim to raise awareness and bridge the gap between human health and the biodiversity of antiallergic medicinal plants. As the book navigates the uncertainties of plant-based medicines in the post-COVID-19 era, it provides real-world applications showcasing the specific utility of medicinal plants through advanced biotechnological insights. This book covers several medicinal plants associated with antiallergy, exploring their modes of action, available secondary metabolites, and estimation methods. It also emphasizes all modern biotechnological interventions aimed at propagating, multiplying, and conserving this unique treasure trove of medicinal plants. The World Health Organization estimated that 80% of the populations of developing countries rely on traditional medicines, mostly plant drugs, for their primary health care needs. Increasing demand in both developing and developed countries resulted in the expanding trade of medicinal plants and has serious implications for the survival of several plant species, with many under threat of becoming extinct. This book describes various approaches to conserving these genetic resources. It discusses the whole spectrum of biotechnological tools from micro-propagation for large-scale multiplication and cell-culture techniques to the biosynthesis and enhancement of pharmaceutical compounds in plants. It also discusses the genetic transformation as well as short- to long-term conservation of plant genetic resources via synthetic seed production and cryopreservation, respectively. This reference book is useful for researchers in the pharmaceutical and biotechnological industries, medicinal chemists, biochemists, botanists, molecular biologists, academicians, students as well as allergic patients, traditional medicine practitioners, scientists in medicinal and aromatic plants, and other traditional medical practitioners. Natural molecules, in addition to directly providing new compounds with different therapeutic functions have provided scaffolds and a great diversity of structures that serve as inspiration for the design and discovery of new drugs. The great structural complexity and the significant number of natural compounds that can be obtained and their advantages also present some historical problems that need to be overcome. Issues such as difficulty in isolation, difficulty in synthesizing compounds found in nature in the laboratory, screening to evaluate the biological properties of these compounds, and structural optimization to enhance the pharmacological properties of biomolecules; are some of the main difficulties encountered in research with natural products and in the design\/discovery of new medicines. Therefore, this book addresses the great scientific advances that provide practical solutions to using natural products to develop new drugs. We address topics related to the genesis of research projects that use natural products to design new drugs. We address the discovery of new species, initial processes for identification and extraction of compounds, isolation and identification of these structures, techniques, and advances in vitro and in vivo methods that support the discovery of new natural drugs, synthesis of new compounds from natural molecules, in silico optimization processes of potentially promising compounds. The principles and values of this profession are already clearly stated (i.e., Find and Treat the Cause; Treat the Whole Person, etc.), but few are the textbooks that provide a clear exposition of what the approach is that differs from what is described as conventional or allopathic medicine. The toolkit – herbs or nutrients – then becomes the defining feature, but this is not the most important attribute. To paraphrase the historian of medicine Harris Coulter – in this approach the body reacts creatively to stressors – and the Empirical school or natural medicine approach is more focused on supporting adaptive responses than suppressing symptoms. Or to put it another way, naturopathic physicians certainly do things to ameliorate symptoms, but their real interest is to discern what disturbances to the determining factors of health lead to imbalances, physiological dysfunction, and are generating the symptoms.  This is not an attempt to argue that all health issues can get better on their own or that conventional medical interventions aren’t capable of producing stellar outcomes. Conventional medicine holds great value, but there remains a concurrent need for a naturopathic approach that helps rebuild the body. There is a need for an approach in medicine that works to support adaptive responses of the body, reduce maladaptive responses, address determining factors of health, and sometimes create temporary homeostasis with agents such as drugs (or certain natural medicines) can play to maintain life when the body’s healing responses are insufficient. This book takes this approach and begins by examining what health is and then what states lead to disease. In terms of the basis of disease states, the book teaches about how the lack of coordination in the body’s bioregulatory systems (hormones, nervous system, cell signaling) can lead to disease, as well as the impact of irreversible degeneration, genetic damage, chronic stress, etc. The book takes the reader to some of the more common and well described reasons for these states of dysfunction, including the body’s inability to process environmental toxins and disruptions to the human microbiome. The book then teaches how to assess a patient, and how various natural therapies impact root causes of disease, the long term consequences, and the various clinical manifestations. The book then takes a systems approach – cardiovascular, pulmonary, etc. This is where most books on the subject start, but instead of breaking out a  number of conditions and giving protocols of diet, supplements, herbs etc., the author examines how to restore stability and function to that system. There is in depth coverage of how to confront degenerative processes that make self-healing far more challenging, or perhaps not entirely attainable. The application of the model of healing outlined in previous chapters is applied to each system. Special topics are then covered, ranging from lifespan\/primary care considerations to the role of research, the rise of advanced data analytics as decision assistance, to the environmental, cultural, and global determinants of health. Each chapter will additionally include tables that summarize key diagnosis or treatment points, arrayed in an order that reflects the model presented in the book. This is an ideal guide for students in naturopathic medicine, as well as physicians and medical professionals looking to learn more about this field aimed towards maximizing patient resilience. Numerous issues confront women's healthcare today, among them the medicalization of women's bodies, cosmetic genital surgery, violence against women, HIV, perinatal mental health disorders. This volume uniquely explores such difficult topics and others at the intersection of clinical practice, policy, and bioethics in women's health care through a feminist ethics lens. With in-depth discussions of issues in women's reproductive health, it also broadens scholarship by responding to a wider array of ethical challenges that many women experience in accessing health care. Contributions touch on many themes previously tackled by feminist ethics, but in new, contemporary ways. Some chapters expand into new fields in the bioethics literature, such as the ethical issues related to the care of Indigenous women, uninsured refugees and immigrants, women engaged in sex work, and those with HIV at different life stages and perinatal mental health disorders. Authors seek to connect theory and practice with users of the health system by including women's voices in their research. Bringing to bear their experience in active clinical practice in medicine, nursing, and ethics, the authors contemplate new conceptual approaches to important issues in women's healthcare, and make ethical practice recommendations for those grappling with these issues. Female Doctors in Canada is an accessible collection of articles by experienced physicians and researchers exploring how systems, practices, and individuals must change as medicine becomes an increasingly female-dominated profession. As the ratio of practicing physicians shifts from predominately male to predominately female, issues such as work hours, caregiving, and doctor-patient relationships will all be affected. Canada's medical education is based on a system that has always been designed by and for men; this is also true of our healthcare systems, influencing how women practice, what type of medicine they choose to practice, and how they wish to balance their personal lives with their work. With the intent to open a larger conversation, Female Doctors in Canada reconsiders medical education, health systems, and expectations, in light of the changing face of medicine. Highlighting the particular experience of women working in the medical profession, the editors trace the history of female practitioners, while also providing a perspective on the contemporary struggles women face as they navigate a system that was tailored to the male experience, and is yet to be modified.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Traditional Medicine","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":48975398207662,"sku":null,"price":27.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0765\/8179\/8062\/files\/9781487504250.jpg?v=1788000350"},{"product_id":"ethik-im-alltag-der-medizin-spektrum-der-disziplinen-zwischen-forschung-und-therapie","title":"Ethik Im Alltag Der Medizin: Spektrum Der Disziplinen Zwischen Forschung Und Therapie","description":"\u003cp\u003eby Dietrich v. This text first discusses the philosophical and religious roots of compassion before investigating notions of health, illness, culture and multicultural societies. Drawing this information together, it then introduces two invaluable frameworks for practice, one of cultural competence and one of culturally competent compassion, and applies them to care scenarios. Papadopoulos goes on to discuss: how nurses in different countries understand and provide compassion in practice; how students learn about compassion; how leaders can create and champion compassionate working environments; and how we can, and whether we should, measure compassion. Long-term self-management of chronic conditions involves negotiating the intersections of personal life choices, community and workplace structures, and family roles. Medical Humanism, Chronic Illness, and the Body in Pain: An Ecology of Wholeness proposes an ecological model of wholeness, which envisions wholeness in the dialogic engagement of the philosophical orientations of the biomedical and traditional medical systems. Vinita Agarwal proposes an integrative premise of being whole through revising the fundamental definitions of humanism, rethinking the self\/body\/environment, and thereby recognizing alternative ways of organizing knowledge and human experience as this model pushes the intersections of patient-centered care and sustainable health ethics. It is in the spaces of such intersections, Agarwal argues, that we accomplish healing as an integrative relationship of the individual with the multiple cultural logics underlying chronic conditions and the competing medical worldviews of our contemporary landscape. Scholars of communication, health, and medical humanities, along with practitioners working with patients who have chronic conditions, will find this book particularly useful. This book argues for a wider understanding, demonstrating that yoga has long expressed political thought and practice. The political idea of yoga names the tools of kings, poets, warriors, and revolutionaries. It encodes stratagems for going into battle and for the demands of governance. This idea suggests routes to self-rule even when faced with implacable obstacles, and it defines righteous action amid the grime and grief of politics and war. Sunila S. Kalé and Christian Lee Novetzke chart a new genealogy of yoga, beginning with uses of the term in the Ṛg Veda , the Mahābhārata , the Bhagavad Gītā , and the Arthaśāstra . In the world of these texts, yoga names everything from war and battle strategy to good governance, espionage, taxation, and welfare. Kalé and Novetzke follow this trail into the modern period, examining the writings and speeches of thinkers such as Gandhi, Tilak, Aurobindo, and Ambedkar as well as the extraordinary story of the Princely State of Aundh, whose ruler saw the Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) as a tool for sovereignty. This new edition, led by two prominent Professors of Nursing, explores issues of spiritual assessment in healthcare practice while adopting a lifespan approach and also including expertise from nursing, midwifery, medicine, mental health, children and adolescents, meaningful ageing, and intellectual disability. The importance of cultural sensitivity and diversity are explored because it is recognised that these are themes that have been neglected in discussions about spiritual assessment. It provides nurses and other healthcare professionals with a valuable resource that will assist them with identifying and meeting their patients' and clients' spiritual needs. The book, as previously, commenced by providing an overview of what is meant by spirituality, this operational definition is derived from the authors’ research and experiences in teaching these subjects to a wide range of healthcare professionals. The updated and expanded text will assist readers to engage with the conceptual and theoretical challenges and developments associated with spirituality and spiritual care. The book offers very practical insights and steps for introducing and advancing spiritual assessment in a wide range of healthcare settings. The adoption of a life span approach means that concepts such as spirituality, spiritual care and assessment can be better understood by healthcare professionals working in specialist fields of practice. Each chapter will draw upon up to date evidence to demonstrate the development of both the art and science of spiritual assessment. The book will continue to challenge contemporary thinking, asking for healthcare professionals working within a diverse range of care settings, organisations\/institutions, educational contexts to evaluate their practice in relation to spiritual assessment. A primary goal of this 2nd Edition is to continue to advance thinking and practice in spiritual assessment by using a lifespan approach that offers insight into the dilemmas, obstacles, deficits that inhibit or prevent  nurses and other allied healthcare providers from supporting clients and patients with their spiritual needs.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Traditional Medicine","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":48975431598254,"sku":null,"price":27.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0765\/8179\/8062\/files\/9783031785740.jpg?v=1788000368"},{"product_id":"medicinal-plants-and-covid-19","title":"Medicinal Plants and Covid-19","description":"\u003cp\u003eBy Asita Elengoe \"Vaccines and current medications are being tested in a variety of clinical trials to develop a cure for COVID-19.
